Trinamool urges Puja organisers to strictly adhere to Covid norms

Kolkata: The ruling Trinamool Congress leaders in North 24-Parganas have urged all the Puja organisers and the people to follow the Covid norms set by the state government so that the infection curve does not go up further. When there is a surge in the number of patients, the Puja organisers and the people must be very cautious unless the number may further go up, warns the district leaders. Bidhanagar subdivision has still around 1743 active cases and 376 have died so far while in Barasat the active cases so far remain at around 1,321. In Bongaon 46 people have died and the active cases stand at around 385 and 2,560 have been released from the hospitals. In Basirhat sub-division, 63 died of Covid so far while active cases stand at 599.

Kolkata: The ruling Trinamool Congress leaders in North 24-Parganas have urged all the Puja organisers and the people to follow the Covid norms set by the state government so that the infection curve does not go up further. It is really a challenge before the district administration to keep the curve under control during the festive season. The North 24-Parganas and Kolkata are the two districts which report the maximum number of infected patients on a daily basis. In the wake of the present situation, the ruling party in the district has clearly mentioned that the rules which have been laid out by the Mamata Banerjee government must be strictly adhered to. When there is a surge in the number of patients, the Puja organisers and the people must be very cautious unless the number may further go up, warns the district leaders. Trinamool Congress spokesperson Rathin Ghosh who is also the MLA from Madhyamgram and the local municipality chairman has requested all the puja organisers in the district to remain alert so that infection rate can be controlled. At the same time Ghosh urged the people to wear masks and use sanitisers while stepping out of their houses. He also pointed out that the puja organizers must ensure that the fund given by the state government to various puja organizers must be utilised for procuring masks and sanitisers in adequate quantity. "Durga puja is Bengals biggest festival. People prefer to go for pandal hopping. But the situation is different this year as the entire world is hit by a deadly virus. People should be conscious during the festive season. We would also request the puja organizers to follow the guidelines issued by the government. Restrictions which have been imposed by the Calcutta High Court must be maintained by the organisers. To save people from Covid, we all have to be alert," Ghosh said. He also added that the Covid recovery rate in the district has gone over 85 per cent. Around 66,000 people have been infected with Covid in the district out of which over 57,000 have already been released. Around 1,384 people have died of Covid in North 24-Parganas so far. Bidhanagar subdivision has still around 1743 active cases and 376 have died so far while in Barasat the active cases so far remain at around 1,321. Around 9,761 infected patients have recovered from the disease in Barasat. Around 243 died of Covid so far in Barasat. In Bongaon 46 people have died and the active cases stand at around 385 and 2,560 have been released from the hospitals. Barrackpore has so far lost 817 people and around 23,617 patients have recovered. The number of active cases stands at 3,508 in Barrackpore. In Basirhat sub-division, 63 died of Covid so far while active cases stand at 599. As many as 4,294 patients have recovered in Basirhat. The North 24-Parganas district administration has chalked out an elaborate plan to conduct surveillance during the festive season this year. The police administration will remain extra cautious to ensure that the government norms are followed.
