Women thrashed and hairs chopped off by the husband`s kin in Bengal.
In Bengal`s South 24 Parganas district a woman was brutally thrashed and her hairs chopped off for allegedly having an affair with her brother-in-law. Later, the accused evicted the woman and her brother-in-law from the village.
As per reports, the woman’s husband died nearly three years ago. She, along with her two sons, resided at the house of her in-laws.
Reportedly, the woman’s deceased husband’s elder brother, identified as Paritosh Sardar, and a few local men had proposed to marry her. She, however, rejected their proposals, following which she was threatened to leave the village. Subsequently, her brother-in-law, identified as Khudiram Sardar, stepped in to help her.
Paritosh and others started accusing the widow of having an illicit affair with Khudiram. Around 5 pm on Wednesday (July 28), Paritosh and a few other people allegedly thrashed the woman and chopped off her hair. They assaulted Khudiram too. Later, the accused forced the woman and Khudiram out of the village.
Thereafter, the victim lodged a police complaint against Paritosh and seven others. After which two accused have been arrested.
