Bengal logs 48 new Covid cases

Kolkata, May 17 (PTI) West Bengal on Tuesday registered 48 new Covid-19 cases, 34 more than the previous day’s figure, taking the tally to 20,18,922, the health department said in a bulletin. The positivity rate increased to 0.67 per cent from Monday"s 0.27 per cent, it said. There was no fresh fatality due to coronavirus infection and the toll remained unchanged at 21,202. Altogether 41 patients recovered from the disease during the day pushing the number of cured people to 19,97,321. The state now has 398 active cases. Since Monday, 7,194 samples were tested in West Bengal taking the total number of such clinical examinations to 25,185,388, the bulletin said. PTI SCH NN NN
