Wayfinding signages in Kolkata's Sector V soon

KOLKATA: The Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority has come up with a traffic rejig plan to help motorists and pedestrians reach their destinations in Sector V conveniently. Wayfinding refers to information systems that guide people through a physical environment and enhance their understanding and experience of the space.Wayfinding signages are widely used in other countries as well. A workshop on 'Future Cities' held at Eco Park highlighted that human behaviour can be used as an effective urban design tool. Taking clue from this, NDITA have started designing the signages.

KOLKATA: The Nabadiganta Industrial Township Authority has come up with a traffic rejig plan to help motorists and pedestrians reach their destinations in Sector V conveniently. It would also set up a multi-level parking cum food hub in AQ Block behind Technopolis.The authorities have planned to set up wayfinding signages at all major roads. Wayfinding refers to information systems that guide people through a physical environment and enhance their understanding and experience of the space.Wayfinding signages are widely used in other countries as well. A workshop on 'Future Cities' held at Eco Park highlighted that human behaviour can be used as an effective urban design tool. Taking clue from this, NDITA have started designing the signages. "The signages will mention the street numbers, a map of the spot and an estimated time to reach a particular spot," officials said.The authorities are also planning to set up a food hub in a parking lot of one acre size plot behind Technopolis where parking will be multi-level to accommodate several hundreds of cars. The food stalls and other shops will be at the ground or street level. The authorities are working on the design process.
