Fans queued up outside Mohammedan Sporting Club since Saturday morning but the match on Sunday is already sold out. A Mohan Bagan game is not just a match but a sentiment. I was sad after KKR lost to Gujrat Lions on Friday but I am devastated today. Determined to bounce back, the fans have now pinned hopes on the Sunday big clash, where KKR locks horns with Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore. But even before my turn came, they had run out of the tickets," said Imran Alam, a KKR fan.

KOLKATA: With Kolkata Knight Riders surrendering to the Lions from Gujarat and Mohun Bagan losing to Aizawl FC, the sports-crazy city had nothing much to cheer for over the last two days. Determined to bounce back, the fans have now pinned hopes on the Sunday big clash, where KKR locks horns with Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore."It has been a depressing weekend. I was sad after KKR lost to Gujrat Lions on Friday but I am devastated today. A Mohan Bagan game is not just a match but a sentiment. I want KKR to win on Sunday to bring some cheer," said Roy, a third-year student of Jaipuria College and a diehard Mohan Bagan fan who was watching the screening of Mohun Bagan-Aizwal FC match in Sovabazar.Close to 500 Bagan fans assembled at Sovabazar Rajbari to watch the match. Close to two hours later, they left with tears in their eyes. "This was an important match that we should have won. The coach and the team management should take the blame," said a sobbing Bilbo Majumdar. At the club tent, frustration of exasperated fans spilled over when they got into an altercation with reporters and cameramen of electronic media. A cameraman from a local TV channel was heckled by the fans. With most of the senior club officials in Aizawl, a few members stepped in to bring the situation under control. There exists a school of thought that the sentiments associated with East Bengal and Mohan Bagan cannot be substituted with allegiance to any other sport or team, but KKR has come to command that respect. "It is Kolkata's team and over the years the bond has strengthened," said Pulak Chatterjee, a first-year student who will be going to the Eden Gardens on Sunday. "The team lost to Gujrat on Friday so it needs more support on Sunday. I will be going along with my friends to cheer my home team."KKR will be playing RCB in their home ground but even the most loyal of fans are not ruling out Kohli and company just as yet. "Royal Challengers have a formidable batting line-up, comprising Kohli, Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers. The team also has fine finishers like Shane Watson , Kedar Jadhav and Stuart Binny . It will be an interesting contest," said Aveek Ghosh , a KKR enthusiast. The possibility of a good contest between the two teams has sent the demand for tickets skyrocketing. Fans queued up outside Mohammedan Sporting Club since Saturday morning but the match on Sunday is already sold out. "I queued since 8am to buy five tickets. But even before my turn came, they had run out of the tickets," said Imran Alam, a KKR fan.
