In a major breakthrough, Calcutta High Court has revoked the order issued by State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee`s order on Durga idol immersion.

In a major breakthrough, Calcutta High Court has revoked the order issued by State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee`s order on Durga idol immersion.

The High Court on Wednesday had reprimanded the state government asking why law and order cannot be maintained in the city. The high court instructed the government to make separate routes for both Durga idol immersion and Muharram processions.

The Calcutta High Court on Thursday today, in its order said the Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal is "exercising extreme power without any basis".

The court was hearing a petition challenging the order concerning idol immersion during Durga Puja and Taazia procession during Muharram.
