more-in In a soothing touch to the family, former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday visited Jyotsna, who suffered a miscarriage after she was allegedly attacked by a gang led by a CPI(M) branch secretary at Velamkode, near Kodenchery, in Kozhikode district last month. The 30-year-old expectant mother was allegeldy kicked in the stomach when she tried to prevent the gang from assaulting her husband, Sibi Chacko, during a dispute over the purchase of a four-cent plot by the family. The four-month-pregnant woman, who was under critical care after the incident, suffered a miscarriage. The foetus could not be saved owing to heavy bleeding. Deploring the incident, Mr. Chandy said Kerala had turned into a land where even a foetus was unsafe. The CPI(M) cadres were of unsound mind and intolerance was the driving force for them. With the party being in power, megalomania had reached the grassroots level of the party. The brutal attack on an innocent family revealed this scenario, Mr. Chandy said. All of the accused were remanded in judicial custody by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-II, Thamarassery.
