more-in Two new hostel projects for women at Villiappally and Kunnammal, and a multi-purpose centre each at Kuttiyadi and Kayanna, with an outlay of ?5.77 crore, have been drawn up under the welfare schemes for women in the budget of the Kozhikode District Panchayat. The other projects include training centres for women and a theatre for women under the Kudumbasree Mission. Workshops will be constructed for coir societies at Olavanna and Kadalundi. Karate training institutes for girls will also be set up. The budget has earmarked ?4.85 crore for the Haritha Kerala schemes. This includes conservation of the existing rivers at Kuttiyadi and other lakes, apart from the implementation of lift irrigation schemes. Crematoriums will be constructed at a cost of ?1.60 crore at Cheruvannur, Balussery, Chemmencherry and Maniyoor. All the agricultural and poultry farms at Koottali, Perambra, Thikkodi and Puthuppadi will be converted into high-tech zones. Also, the Regional Poultry Farm at Chathamanagalam will be raised to international standards. The budget has also proposed to implement 24 drinking water schemes in schools and housing colonies. Thirty solar panels will be installed on the Wayanad Ghat Road linking Kozhikode and Wayanad districts.
