The new batch includes 27 students for the FPM programme and 425 students for the PGP programme. Regarding the academic profile of the PGP Students, a news release said that the IIMK admitted 115 female students constituting 27%, and 16 FPM students making it to 59.25%, and making it always high at the national level. Out of the 1,62,773 students who had applied for the PGP, IIMK extended admission offers to 1 in 122 of those candidates, keeping the penetration rate at 0.88%, tougher than the IITs. The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) on Monday commenced the 22nd batch of Postgraduate Programme (PGP) and the 12th batch of Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) on a positive note after admitting 53.3% of underprivileged students through affirmative action. Commenting on the development, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, the newly appointed Director of IIMK, said that social deprivation was a more central factor to backwardness than economic deprivation.
