A meeting of the Thamarassery Taluk Development Committee on Monday appealed to the State government to enhance the financial aid sanctioned for the victims of Kattippara landslip. The committee members observed that the amount sanctioned by the government was hardly sufficient to meet the rehabilitation needs. They also said several families were waiting for aid from charitable organisations to meet house construction expenses. The members also expressed concern over the scarcity of M-sand in the open market as a result of curbs imposed on granite quarries. They said the issue should be addressed by permitting sand mining in safe areas.
