The possibility of contagious diseases spreading in relief camps has put the Health Department on alert. They have been advised to take their regular medicines if any and to let health workers know if they needed fresh supplies. Those in the camps have been asked to let the health workers who visit the camps know of any health issues they had and to be ready to be shifted to a health centre if they contacted contagious diseases. A central medical cell has been set up with the help of the Indian Medical Association to monitor the situation in the camps. The residents of camps have been advised not to step into water if they had wounds on their legs and to use footwear all the time.
