Thiruvambady to get new KSRTC terminal

Promising better service to commuters in rural areas, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to construct a new bus terminal and depot at Thiruvambady, a prominent farming hub known for its proximity to the eco-tourism destinations in the district. New services connecting more rural areas too will be considered, the officials added. Long-distance special services and inter-district schedules too are expected to get a boost, challenging the monopoly of private bus operators in the sector.

more-in Promising better service to commuters in rural areas, the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has decided to construct a new bus terminal and depot at Thiruvambady, a prominent farming hub known for its proximity to the eco-tourism destinations in the district. Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran will lay the foundation stone for the projects on September 21. The Vadakara-based Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) will undertake the work, which is estimated to cost ?3 crore on completion of the first phase. A special development fund sanctioned by George M. Thomas, MLA, too will be spent on the project. The terminal to be constructed in KSRTC’s own property will have all basic amenities for passengers. Spacious waiting rooms, comfort stations, first aid booth, and police aid post are some of the facilities planned. A tourism information counter too is under consideration.
