Ragesh more-in Social activist Shabnam Hashmi has accused the National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre of imposing an undeclared Emergency in the country. She was addressing a public gathering as part of a reception accorded to “Batein Aman Ki”, an all-India jatha being taken out by progressive women’s organisations, here on Sunday. Ms. Hashmi said that many had opposed Indira Gandhi’s imposition of Emergency. However, now people were supportive of the undeclared Emergency. Those who opposed it were getting threats. Over 30 persons had lost their lives in mob lynchings. She alleged that fascist forces had gained control of the mainstream media and the social media. Stating that the BJP was targeting States such as Kerala, she alleged that the party might try to frame an alternative Constitution if it were elected to power in the next elections.
