Two shutters of the Kakkayam dam were partly opened on Friday as part of safety measures taken in advance in the wake of Yellow alert announced by the Indian Meteorological Department. The shutters were opened by Kerala State Electricity Board after holding a review meeting with the District Disaster management Authority. Local residents too were alerted to the opening of shutters well in advance.
