Muslim Youth League protests against LDF liquor policy

The government should restore the UDF liquor policy and implement prohibition in a phased manner, he said. Activists of the Muslim Youth League (MYL) will take out a march to the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram on July 6 in protest against the new liquor policy of the State government. At a news conference here on Thursday MYL State general secretary P.K. Firoz said that the LDF election manifesto promising that everything would be set right now showed that the slogan was apparently meant for bar owners in the State. Mr. Firoz also urged the government to withdraw the order allowing small quarries to operate from a minimum permissible distance of 50 metres from roads, canals, rivers and residential buildings.
