LUCKNOW: Mango man Padmashri Haji Kaleemullah who underwent a heart surgery at a private hospital in Lucknow on Tuesday, family claimed, was sent away by specialty medical facility--Lari Cardiology--on late Monday night. The family had rushed to Lucknow from Malihabad on Monday night and after spending some minutes at Lari Cardiology , had taken him to the private facility in Gomti Nagar area.Kaleemullah, famous for breeding different varieties of mangoes and naming them after celebrities, is 78 years of age. The hospital denied that there was any negligence in treatment towards Kaleemullah.Kaleemullah's son, Nazeemullah, spoke to TOI and said that while Lari Cardiology had told them his father's condition was not one to be worried about and that they should take him back home to Malihabad, he was fitted with a stent on Tuesday. "Doctors here admitted my father immediately, conducted tests on him and told us that he has an almost 90% blockade," he said.As per Nazeemullah, his father, the horticulturist, had suffered pain in his chest on April 23 after which around 9:30pm the family rushed him from Malihabad to a private specialist in Lucknow. "He gave my father a medicine and asked us to take him to Lari Cardiology immediately. We reached there by 10:30pm and the junior doctors who attended to us for some 15 minutes advised that nothing seemed to be worrisome with him and asked us to go back home."But, the family claimed, Kaleemullah's condition was not well, so after consultation with the family doctor, he was taken to the private facility where he was admitted by midnight.Chief medical superintendent (CMS) of King George's Medical University, under which Lari Cardiology is run, however contested the family's claims that there was any medical negligence in the case. "The doctors on duty would have informed the family right. There must have been no requirement for a medical procedure for him then. As for his being operated upon in a private facility, we would not like to comment on it," said CMS, Prof SN Sankhwar. The famed mango man, his son said, is now recuperating at the private facility, and will be discharged from the hospital by the weekend.
