Man extorts money from couple in park arrested

On July 6, he visited Lohia Park where he spotted a boy and a girl together and hatched a plan to extort money from them. LUCKNOW: A man impersonating an inspector in Special Task Force (STF) was arrested from Gomtinagar on Wednesday for extortion and harassment.According to the police, the miscreant, identified as Ankur Singh of Gomtinagar, works with a private company. On finding out that the boy was a Muslim and the girl a Hindu, he allegedly began grilling the former even more intensely. He posed as a policeman and began questioning the couple. When the boy objected to this, he threatened to send both to jail, and let them off only after extorting Rs 5,000 from them.While leaving, he took the girl's cellphone number and subsequently started making calls to her.
