India Inc to be part of Rs 64Kcr projects event

LUCKNOW: Following on the lines of the investors' summit held in February, which was attended by representatives from the India Inc , the ground-breaking ceremony for about 64 projects on July 29 will be equally glitzy. Nodal officers have to be appointed for all projects. So far, about 64 projects have been officially approved but we are still trying to sort out matters pertaining to another three or four projects and hope to be able to include them in this ceremony,” Mahana said.The government had inked MoUs worth Rs 4.28 crore during February’s summit, and will be conducting the ground-breaking ceremony for projects worth approximately Rs 60,000 crore. Another major review has been scheduled for Monday. Meanwhile, officials have been directed to issue letters of comfort to all project owners, specifying the policies from which they will benefit and the incentives being offered to them under each.

To be presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Lucknow, the event is likely to be attended by industrialists and Union cabinet ministers, including Mukesh Ambani of the Reliance Group, Nandan Nilekani, Kumaramangalam Birla of the Aditya Birla Group, Subhash Chandra of Essel Group and Adani Group's Gautam Adani.Union cabinet ministers who have been scheduled to speak at the event are Union commerce minister Suresh Prabhu, defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who was responsible for bringing the defence corridor to UP and minister for electronics and IT Ravi Shankar Prasad.Governor Ram Naik and chief minister Yogi Aditynath will also be present at the event. Industries minister Satish Mahana said that along with these honchos, Tata Sons’ chairman N Chandrashekhar, CII chairman Rakesh Bhartiya Mittal and another 1,500 people, including delegates from abroad, were also scheduled to attend the event.“The state government has decided to name this event ‘Rising UP, New India’. This is the first of many such events that we will hold every three months to ensure that the hundreds of MoUs that were signed during the investors’ summit were converted into actual work on ground. So far, about 64 projects have been officially approved but we are still trying to sort out matters pertaining to another three or four projects and hope to be able to include them in this ceremony,” Mahana said.The government had inked MoUs worth Rs 4.28 crore during February’s summit, and will be conducting the ground-breaking ceremony for projects worth approximately Rs 60,000 crore. These projects include those being promoted by companies like ACC Cement, Greenply, Tata Consultancy, Ambani, Adani, Birla, Berger Paints, DCM Sriram, Goldee Masala, Haldiram, PayTM, Metro Cash and Carry, Infosys etc.“I held a review meeting on Friday to assess the preparations for the event. Another major review has been scheduled for Monday.
