Lucknow University panel lists ways for campus peace

LUCKNOW: Following the directions of the high court, Lucknow University has come up with suggestions to control indiscipline on the campus.The court had sought suggestions from the university for maintaining on-campus law and order after violence on July 4 in which expelled students had assaulted 12 university professors.In its first meeting held on Friday, a committee suggested 11 ways of ensuring decorum on the campus. "A meeting with meritorious students to form a student council and a meeting with all students and parents will be held on Saturday to ensure a healthy academic and student-friendly environment on the campus," said LU spokesperson Mukul Srivastava. It also said that the faculty should make timetables with short gaps between two lectures so that students don't roam uselessly.It advised taking help of technology for regular and timely classes, suggesting the adoption of an app for attendance and lectures.It said all 42 departments should have a disciplinary committee and students' participation in sports and extra curricular activities should be promoted.
