Final screenings special menu raise soccer fever

In a bid to cash in the occasion, restaurants have tweaked their menus naming delicacies after soccer stars while stores are raining discounts. Vishal Saxena, manager of a café in Gomtinagar said, “We have been screening all matches and our patrons are loving it. (With inputs from Meghna Pushpam, Kritika Lalwani, Triya Gulati, Mohd Haaris Beg, Srishti Srivastava & Pranchal Srivastava) We expect a full house on Sunday.” Big hotels and restaurants have launched special menus with drinks and snacks combos.A Purania restaurant will serve ‘Seven-Footer Messi Special Pizza’ and ‘Neymar Double Decker Burger’ on Sunday.

A multiplex at a mall will be showing the live match instead of a movie.Bakeries are flooded with orders for soccer ball-shaped cakes while stores and cafés have put up flags, posters and cut-outs of football stars.More than a dozen cafés are arranging live screening of the final. Vishal Saxena, manager of a café in Gomtinagar said, “We have been screening all matches and our patrons are loving it. We expect a full house on Sunday.” Big hotels and restaurants have launched special menus with drinks and snacks combos.A Purania restaurant will serve ‘Seven-Footer Messi Special Pizza’ and ‘Neymar Double Decker Burger’ on Sunday. Smaller eateries will also screen the final and have come up with low budget menus for students.A cineplex is live screening the match on Sunday from 8pm in its auditorium and has priced tickets in ‘Normal FIFA’, ‘Executive FIFA’, ‘Premium FIFA’ and ‘VIP FIFA’ categories from Rs 330 to Rs 900.Owner of a bookstore in a mall said that biographies of football stars are selling like hot cakes, with those on Messi and Ronaldo already out of stock while guide on learning to play football is also a rage.Apparel stores are giving 25-50% discounts on jerseys and studs.
