Four killed in Yamuna expressway accident

Another accident occurred at around 4:20 pm on the expressway between milestones 115 and 116 under Mahavan police jurisdiction. In the second accident, one person was killed and six were injured.A recent RTI reply by Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) claimed that speeding was a major contributor to accidents on the expressway. Out of 4,956 accidents between August 16, 2012 and March 31, 2018, a total of 1,161 accidents were caused by speeding. In the accident, a woman and a four-year-old boy were killed and three persons were injured.On July 1, four persons including two women and a six-year-old girl were killed in two separate accidents on the expressway in Mathura district. The first accident was reported at around 1:30 am, when an SUV carrying five women, five children and a man turned turtle after hitting the divider near milestone 83 under Surir police jurisdiction.

Yamuna Expressway AGRA: In yet another deadly accident on Yamuna Expressway , four including two women who hailed from Kanpur, were killed on Sunday morning.The incident took place at around 9 am near milestone 113 of Raya police jurisdiction of Mathura district , when a speeding Honda city heading toward Delhi suffered tyre burst and rammed into truck, standing on service lane.Victims were identified as Mohammad Moinuddin, resident of Ahmad Nagar, Abdul Raes and his mother Shahjahan Begum, residents of MirpurCcantt, were killed along with another woman whose identity was yet to be ascertained. The victims' bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.Speaking to TOI, Prabal Singh, circle officer of Mahavan said, “The accident was so horrendous, that sedan like Honda city turned half in length. The victims were crushed inside the mangled car and it took nearly half an hour to extract them out.”He said, “Tyre burst was the main reason for the accident, as the speeding car then lost control and its rear rammed into standing truck. We have detained the truck driver and informed the victim’s relatives.”On July 9, two residents of Delhi, who were heading to Agra on a motorcycle were killed near milestone 127 under Baldeo police jurisdiction of Mathura district in an accident on theOn July 4, a family from Delhi’s Sonia Vihar area, heading towards Agra, met with an accident on the Yamuna Expressway near milestone 146 under Baldeo police jurisdiction in Mathura district.
