AKTU students get chance to ideate to support life on Mars

"The global space community aspires to develop human colonies on Mars by 2030 and Indian students will get to participate in this mission. Besides, foreign faculty and specialists will also guide AKTU students online, he added.On its part, AKTU will run courses in astrobiology, appoint people for designing Massive Open Online Courses and will run a Mars innovation prototyping contest for all AKTU students and the best 15 projects will be funded by the university, he added. "Mars Mission India will give engineering students international exposure and will also open gates of a new study area for them," said AKTU vice-chancellor Vinay Kumar Pathak.AKTU has signed a memorandum of understanding with Kalam-UKCA Mars Mission India to make astrobiology a subject of widespread interest across India and engage engineers and youth in Mine Analogue Research Project. The Kalam Centre will be looking up for best Mars Rovers made with the help of AKTU support," said APJ Kalam Centre CEO & co-founder of Mars Mission India Project, Srijan Pal Singh.UKCA centre head Prof Charles Cockell has agreed that his centre will design and develop the overall space science curriculum with special focus on astrobiology. LUCKNOW: Around four lakh students of Dr APJ Kalam Technical University will get the opportunity to be part of Mars Mission India - a joint initiative by UK Centre for Astrobiology (UKCA), University of Edinburgh and Kalam Centre, aiming to promote astrobiology and engage budding engineers in coming up with innovative ideas and technology to support life on the 'Red Planet'.Those with best ideas will get to visit Boulby Mine in England and experience Mars-like situation created 3 km beneath the earth's surface.
