UP: 8 killed after dumper hits tempo

ALLAHABAD: A speeding dumper rammed into a tempo killing eight persons, including six schoolgirls, and injured two others near Sucheta Colony Road on the Jhansi-Mirzapur highway in Chitrakoot on Monday.The mishap occurred under the jurisdiction of Bargah police station.After the accident, locals and families of the deceased students staged a protest and blocked vehicular movement on the highway demanding arrest of the errant driver of the dumper.The protesters also tried to set the dumper on fire.Police from six police stations rushed to the spot to control the protesting people putting the bodies on the road.Senior police officials including SP (Chitrakoot) Manoj Kumar Jha rushed to the spot to pacify the agitators.ADG (Allahabad zone) SN Sabat deceased include six schoolgirls who were returning home after collecting pass certificates from their school in Bargarh.The deceased have been identified as Kavita (17), Sonam (18), Savita (17), Ashish aka Darshan Mishra (40), Manik Chand (36), Rangeela (14), Pramila (18), and Chaya (12)—all residents of Bargarh.The two injured girls, identified as Anchal and Sadhana, were referred to Allahabad for treatment.
