LUCKNOW: While BSP is looking at the possibility of tying up with the Samajwadi Party in UP for the 2019 elections, attempts are also being made to drum up an alternative Bahujan alliance to BSP that will take on both NDA and UPA in the 2019 polls.The 'National Campaign to Save Bahujan Movement' will meet in Delhi on Sunday to work out the details of this possible alliance.Pramod Kureel, a former Rajya Sabha MP and rebel BSP member, said that several party members had lost faith in Mayawati 's leadership and in the absence of an alternative, had shifted to BJP during the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and also in the 2017 assembly polls."We contested on about 30 seats in eight states in the previous elections. Our organisation was new then, but now we have had more time to work on the ground. We are seeking to provide a national bahujan alternative to people.On Sunday, several organisations are joining us, both social and political, but located within the bahujan ideology. Our main target is the 2019 election, and as an alliance of bahujan forces, we hope to provide an alternative to voters," said Kureel.Kureel, who is openly critical of Mayawati but claims he is still a member of the BSP, says that an SP-BSP alliance looks difficult and it is unlikely that SP would be able to transfer its votes to BSP to ensure that it wins a significant number of seats that will in turn allow Mayawati to fulfil her ambition of becoming Prime Minister. "BJP will not allow this alliance to happen and will use the threat of CBI against Mayawati to ensure this. Why has a formal announcement not been made yet? There is no BSP revival either. The party is without a single seat in the Lok Sabha and Mayawati does not have the standing to demand the PM's post. Our own strategy will be declared only once a declaration is made regarding this alliance," Kureel said.Kureel, who rebelled against Mayawati in 2012, attempted to bring together a coalition in 2017 as well, along with former BSP member Naseemuddin Siddiqui, who has now joined the Congress.Kureel said, "We have been running a 'remove Maya, save BSP' movement for some time now. There is widespread discontent against her within the party."
