Lucknow Rape survivor hubby threaten suicide

The couple married 14 years ago and have three children.In another incident, a 55-year-old man threatened to commit suicide over a land dispute in front of Vidhan Bhawan. He said an FIR of rape had been registered against his neighbour Shyam Kumar and his aide Shankar Dayal on August 4 in Karnailganj police station but no action had been taken. He was carrying a shroud with him.At 12pm, Arun Kumar Upadhyay reached gate number 3 and sat there, saying he will end his life. The survivor’s husband held a placard which read ‘police aur dabango ke chalte ghar chodne ko majbur (we are compelled to leave our house due to goons and police)’. The family lives in Fatehpur village in Karnailganj, Gonda.

LUCKNOW: A rape survivor’s family and a man threatened suicide in front of Vidhan Bhawan in two different incidents on Saturday.A gang-rape survivor along with her husband threatened to commit suicide in front of Vidhan Bhawan on Saturday alleging police inaction in her case.At 2.15pm, the woman, along with her husband and a few others, arrived at gate number 3 of Vidhan Bhawan and started threatening that they would commit suicide.The husband, a labourer in Rohtak , said they had complained with the police but no action was being taken. The family lives in Fatehpur village in Karnailganj, Gonda. He said an FIR of rape had been registered against his neighbour Shyam Kumar and his aide Shankar Dayal on August 4 in Karnailganj police station but no action had been taken. “We were even asked to compromise in the matter. We are tired of everything and with no hope of justice, we have come to end our lives,” he said.Gonda SHO Ved Prakash Srivastava confirmed the FIR had been registered against Shyam Kumar and Shankar Dayal under rape on August 4. The survivor’s husband held a placard which read ‘police aur dabango ke chalte ghar chodne ko majbur (we are compelled to leave our house due to goons and police)’. Police took him to Hazratganj police station and assured him of prompt action in his case.A resident of Puri Dhani village in Aaspur Dewara locality of Pratapgarh, Upadhyay said he took the step to draw attention to his case in which no action had been taken by local police and district officials on repeated complaints against local goons grabbing his land.
