LUCKNOW: Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad alias Ravan on Sunday sidestepped BSP supremo Mayawati’s public remarks dissociating herself with him. The growing feeling in the Bhim Army is that Mayawati was playing a hard ball with Congress and SP and may have open a line with a BJP after the release of Azad. Azad said that her concerns were not valid as his outfit was neither planning to contest elections in 2019 nor looking for any political alliance. When I call her bua ji and say that she and I are the same blood, I mean it. "If she said that she is not anyone’s bua (aunt) and she only wants to help Dalit society, then am I not part of the same samaj?

LUCKNOW: Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad alias Ravan on Sunday sidestepped BSP supremo Mayawati’s public remarks dissociating herself with him. Azad said that her concerns were not valid as his outfit was neither planning to contest elections in 2019 nor looking for any political alliance. "If she said that she is not anyone’s bua (aunt) and she only wants to help Dalit society, then am I not part of the same samaj? When I call her bua ji and say that she and I are the same blood, I mean it. All Dalits are my family. My battle is for their redemption. I want to tell bua ji that my battle is not to upstage any political outfit including BSP or fight Lok Sabha polls in 2019,” he told TOI. He was reacting to Mayawati 's comments where she attacked Azad while saying she cannot have an alliance with a man who instead of joining BSP is resurrecting a fledgling organisation with the same ideology.Azad asserted that despite Mayawati's remarks his respect for her would not diminish. The growing feeling in the Bhim Army is that Mayawati was playing a hard ball with Congress and SP and may have open a line with a BJP after the release of Azad. The timing of Azad’s release is being seen by political commentators in UP as a well-orchestrated strategy by the BJP to test strength of alliances in UP at a time when bypolls in Phulpur, Gorakhpur, Noorpur and Kairana have given a boost to regional parties like SP, BSP and RLD.Azad's release gives Congress a better negotiating power on a table with the BSP in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan as he is being seen as akin to Gujarat's three young leaders Jignesh Mevani, Hardik Patel and Alpesh Thakor, who had a considerable impact on the state polls. "We will support all parties looking to drive BJP out of UP and help us fight against atrocities against Dalits, get them their due jobs in law, police, hospitals and bureaucracy. If any party supports this, we will stand by them," said Azad.Reacting to his recent meeting with Congress state vice-president Imran Masood in west UP, he dismissed speculations that Bhim Army was in touch with Congress to give them a strong edge over BSP in west UP seats like Saharanpur, Meerut, Bareilly, Moradabad among others.
