Mayawatis snub aside Congress props Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad

Main toh Chandrashekhar ji ke saath pehle din se hun...hum dono ka maqsad bhi ek hai aur dushman bhi aur wo hai BJP (I am with Chandrashekhar from day one...we have the same goal and the same enemy which is BJP),'' he said.Chandrashekar was booked under the National Security Act (NSA) by the UP government and spent 15 months in jail for his alleged role in the violence that broke out in Shabbirpur village of Saharanpur in May 2017. Mayawati, who visited the village, had then distanced herself from the Bhim army supporters while slamming them for inflicting violence in the region.Masood, on the other hand, not only advocated for the release of Azad but also visited the latter's village along with party MLA Masood Akhtar and Naresh Saini in Saharanpur. Azad, in turn, called Masood as his brother while calling for a 'Dalit-Muslim' unity.Masood said that Chandrashekhar had a great respect for Mayawati. But her statement against him has shattered our hopes,'' he told TOI. He also accused the BJP of spreading canards to break the prospective grand alliance of opposition parties.
