“The semester system confines students only to academics giving them no time for other activities,” said ABVP state secretary Ghanshyam Sahi.The protesting students threatened to intensify stir if the decision to introduce semester system was not withdrawn. And adopting semester system will incur double cost in conducting the examination twice,” said a student Ashutosh Srivastava.The protesting students also said that with the semester system, students will hardly get any time for extra-curricular activities. “When it comes to making basic facilities available on the campus, the university and college administration blame it on financial crisis. LUCKNOW: Scores of students affiliated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad ABVP ) protested against the introduction of semester system in universities and colleges at the GPO park on Wednesday.The protesting students, who gathered from different cities of the state, demanded the annual system of examination in higher education institutes as it gives time to students to pursue additional activities like NCC , NSS and sports.They also said that semester system was an additional financial load on institutions who complain about financial crisis more often.
