A group of media persons were invited by Aligarh police to “watch and film” the encounter, which was later termed “fake” by Khan.According to officials, a similar notice would be issued to former Congress MP Chaudhary Bijendra Singh, who too had questioned the veracity of police action. Since both leaders called the operation “fake”, they must be having some evidence that could be of use to us, said police.On Thursday morning, Mustakim and Naushad, who were wanted in connection with the murder of six people, including two ascetics, were gunned down by a team of Aligarh police in the presence of newsmen.Talking to TOI, Aligarh SSP Ajay Kumar Sahini said, “A notice has been issued to Khan under Section 160 of CrPC. He has been given three days to record his statement before the investigation officer. A similar notice will be sent to the former MP.”The SSP said that during questioning, Mustakim’s uncle Nafis told police about his nephew’s criminal record, which was checked with police stations across the state and turned out to be true. “Naushad’s record is also being checked,” he said.Sahini said that Mustakim and Naushad changed their accommodation after every crime. They had changed several houses in Chharra area of Aligarh. “Their Aadhaar cards had Chharra address, even though they were originally from Purulia district in West Bengal.
