LUCKNOW: The minority wing of UP BJP is planning to hold a mass convention of triple talaq victims next month in Lucknow where the women would air their grievances.The development comes days after UP BJP decided to appoint a 'triple talaq pramukh' in each district for preparing a list of talaq victims and reaching out to them.Minority wing president Haider Abbas Chand said as per preliminary reports, maximum number of triple talaq cases have been reported from Bareilly and Moradabad . "We are still in the process of preparing the list. We expect the final list in a fortnight," he said. Abbas said party functionaries would spread awareness about the sharia law that denounces instant triple talaq. He said that party workers would use Hindi translation of verses for Muslim women who cannot read Urdu. UP BJP has also asked its minority wing to recruit at least 2,000 Muslims as party members in each district. Sources said the party also plans to put at least two people from the minority community on every booth in Muslim dominated areas. As per UP BJP estimates, there are around 15,000 booths which have Muslim voters in majority. In his Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared that he would leave no stone unturned to ensure that Muslim women do not suffer due to triple talaq.The triple talaq issue is said to be one of the factors behind BJP's win in 2017 UP assembly elections. BJP's plan to reach out to Muslim women gains significance as SP and BSP appear keen to forge alliance for 2019 elections, said political experts.
