9 more cases of card cloning cause loss of Rs 15 lakh in 7 days

Overall, 370 cases of cloning have been reported in the city this year.In the first case, Rajiv Pandey of Vishal Khand was duped of Rs 40,000. Piyush Saxena of Indiranagar was cheated of Rs 6,500 and Mayank Srivastava a businessman of Chowk was duped of Rs 11,230.Nodal officer cyber cell (Lucknow) Abhay Mishra said that all cases were being probed. LUCKNOW:With nine more cases of card cloning reported in the city on Thursday, the toll reached 27 in a span of seven days, amounting to a loss of Rs 15 lakh.While five cases were registered at the Gomtinagar police station, four were reported at the cyber cell in Hazratganj . The cases of cloning are being reported since November 9. SHO Gomtinagar Triloki Nath Singh said that FIRs in all 23 cases were registered and sent to the cyber cell of the Lucknow police for investigation.On the other hand, cyber cell of the Lucknow police also received complaints of four cases of card cloning.

The cases of cloning are being reported since November 9. Gomtinagar police station has alone accounted for 23 such cases this month. Overall, 370 cases of cloning have been reported in the city this year.In the first case, Rajiv Pandey of Vishal Khand was duped of Rs 40,000. Pandey, an engineer, said in the police complaint that he received messages of deduction of Rs 20,000 twice on Thursday night even though he did not made any transaction. “I visited the bank and was informed that my card had been cloned and that an FIR will have to be filed,” Pandey said. Similarly, Rekha Sharma of Kharagpur area was duped of Rs 6,000 while Ram Prakash Gautam of Digdiga Khand of Gomtinagar was also swindled of Rs 23,000.Two more cases of cloning were reported where a retired school teacher Neetu Rawat was duped of Rs 5,000 and a businessman was duped of Rs 9,000.All complainants had the possession of their credit/ debit cards and had not made any transaction. SHO Gomtinagar Triloki Nath Singh said that FIRs in all 23 cases were registered and sent to the cyber cell of the Lucknow police for investigation.On the other hand, cyber cell of the Lucknow police also received complaints of four cases of card cloning. Mannat Gupta of Manaknagar lost Rs 12,000. Vivek Razdan a government employee filed a complaint that he was swindled of Rs 8,000. Piyush Saxena of Indiranagar was cheated of Rs 6,500 and Mayank Srivastava a businessman of Chowk was duped of Rs 11,230.Nodal officer cyber cell (Lucknow) Abhay Mishra said that all cases were being probed. “It seems to be a handiwork of some gang and we are trying to check ATMs in the city and also conducting random inspections of POS machines at eateries and pumps,” said Mishra.
