LUCKNOW: The campus of Dr Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU) resonated with slogans 'Chalo Ayodhya ' and 'Mandir Wahin Banayenge' on Friday evening as a group of students seems to have taken a cue from Vishwa Hindu Parishad's 'Chalo Ayodhya' rally. Some students took out a march from the school of environment till central library raising slogans 'Chalo Ayodhya' and 'Mandir Wahin Banayenge' in support of construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Dalit student outfit opposed the incident and described it as an attempt to vitiate the atmosphere. This is the third face-off between the two groups in last two months.Ambedkar University Dalit Students' Union (AUDSU) members who had made videos of the incident posted them on Facebook on Saturday alleging that certain students are trying to disturb law and order on campus, while university administration remains a mute spectator.Students who took part in the march said they took out a procession after classes were over to ensure that academic work is not disturbed."We just chanted slogans for few minutes without disturbing anyone on campus. The video is an evidence in itself," said BBA LLB student Rishi Shukla."They are objecting saying that we promoted a particular religion and disturbed law and order. They are conveniently forgetting the past incidents when they locked central library and created a ruckus in hostel while forcefully trying to stop hostellers from worshipping," said another student Prashant Tripathi.AUDSU member Basant Kanaujia said, "University campuses are not a place for marches on communal lines. Academic institutions should promote universality, incidents like this disturb academic work and environment. I will give a written complaint on Monday."Another Dalit student Prashant said, "The group marched on campus chanting slogans and also pasted posters for mobilising support of youth on communal lines."BBAU officiating registrar Prof R B Ram said, "We have been making continuous attempt to counsel such students and make them understand that they are in the university to study and produce quality research work.
