LUCKNOW: Agreeing that there was a need for greater representation of the fairer sex in the Parliament and state assemblies, women politicians said that political parties should not shy away from giving more tickets from winnable seats to females.The panel comprised Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Shazia Ilmi, Congress MLA from Raebareli Sadar Aditi Singh, Samajwadi Party spokesperson Juhie Singh and senior advocate Bulbul Godiyal, and was speaking at the session ‘Women in Parliament’ at the Lucknow Literature Festival 2018 on Saturday.Replying to a question about what change they would like to see in politics, SP’s Juhie Singh said, “Political parties should give more tickets to women and that too from winnable constituencies.”Congress MLA Aditi Singh said that while she would like to see more women get opportunities in politics, she felt there was a need for a change in the general perception about women leaders.“I remember going to Vidhan Sabha for a session and approaching a minister for some work. After we were done talking, he told me, ‘For a woman, you are doing a great job’.
