Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani on Monday said at that a time when Rahul Gandhi was targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, it was the RSS, Centre and BJP-led state government that were ensuring development in his Parliamentary constituency Amethi. He targets the Sangh but today a senior functionary of Sangh was here and a health centre was set up at a cost of Rs 10 crore in Amethi with the Sangh’s help).” The minister further said, “Woh jitna apmanit karte hain …kalankit karte hain…usse jyada vikas ka karya Amethi mein Sangadhan, Sangh ya Sarkar teeno ki aur se hota hai (The amount he insults is surpassed by the work and development being done in Amethi by the Sangadhan, Sangh and the government).” She further said that Monday’s event was a challenge to Rahul anda sign of development which cannot be ignored by him. “Aj Amethi ka karikaram hunkar hai Rahul Gandhi ke liye,” she said, adding that she challenges him to name all gram panchayats in Amethi. Advertising Inaugurating a three-day employment mela in Amethi, she said that Rahul has been a member of Parliament from the constituency for 15 years, but not a single employment fair was conducted. The minister claimed that help to construct 22,000 houses has been given in Amethi after Yogi Adityanath became the chief minister. Smriti also said that she has heard that the Congress chief is distributing banana saplings foreign origin here, but added that RSS has already distributed 50,000 saplings of fruit plants in Amethi. She said Rahul was following in the footsteps of the RSS. A PTI report quoted Congress spokesperson Anshu Awasthi as saying that Rahul had sent 40,000 banana saplings brought from Israel for local farmers, who had told him about the scope of cultivating bananas in the area during his last visit.
