Allahabad: 3 dead after boat capsizes in Yamuna

ALLAHABAD: At least three women were killed and five others were found missing after a boat carrying 14 persons capsized in river Yamuna near Mankameshwar temple under the limits of Kydganj police station here on Monday evening. The condition of all these three women was very critical when they were sent to hospital for treatment. Teams of JAL police and swimmers were on their task to locate them.The three women who were rescued breathed their last at the hospital. The identity of three dead women was yet to be ascertained.Six injured persons including Jyotibala, Sunita Devidas, Aangad Narayan, Keshav Gyanowa, Manohar Vaisya and Meenakshi are undergoing treatment at SRN hospital.SP said that the injured persons undergoing treatment at SRN hospital were in state of shock and were notable to speak too much. He said that cops are waiting for improvement in their condition to record their statements.Through the exact reason behind boat capsize incident was yet to ascertained, initial reports suggested that over crowding and poor condition of boat were held responsible behind the incident.Meanwhile., teams of NERF and para military personnel have too joined search operation to locate the missing persons.

He further added that the incident took place around 6: 45 PM when the boat was near Mankameshwar temple.SP (city) Brijesh Kumar Srivastava meanwhile said a group of 14 persons, who had come from Maharashtra to immerse ashes of a dead kin, was on the boat when it capsized.He added while police managed to take nine of them from the river, five others were still missing.
