Snowfall in hills to bring icy winds Met

The snowfall in the hills and rainfall in some parts of the state is expected to change conditions in the city by weekend.A glimpse of it was witnessed on Wednesday when cold winds and partly cloudy sky brought chill in the air. LUCKNOW: Brace for foggy and chilly weather. On Thursday, maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 24 and 8 degrees Celsius, respectively.The western disturbance is expected to fizzle out by Friday, following which icy winds from snowfed mountains are expected to sweep the state, which will further increase the chill factor. Moderate fog was reported in the morning. A brief spell of light rainfall was also reported from some parts of the city in the evening.The maximum temperature was 22.8 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal, while the minimum temperature was 9 degrees Celsius.State Met director JP Gupta said that while a western disturbance over western Himalayas is responsible for the snowfall, cyclonic circulations over Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan led to cloudy sky and rains in some parts of UP including Lucknow.Weather, he added, would be clear by Friday but moderate fog would occur along with drop in temperatures.
