BJP to invoke Atal Bihari Vajpayee pitch for development

LUCKNOW: After the Hindutva push and clamour for Ram Temple by right wing Hindu outfits, BJP is all set to raise development pitch with grand celebrations of Sushasan Diwas (Good Governance Day) observed on former PM late Atal Bihari Vajpayee 's birthday on December 25. Singh's representative in Lucknow, Diwakar Tripathi confirmed that the state government has sanctioned funds for the flyover. Sources said that the party plans to invoke Vajpayee's legacy with a grand event as BJP president Amit Shah will be in Lucknow to mark the occasion.Union home minister Rajnath Singh is likely to lay foundation of a flyover on Kursi road in Lucknow on the eve of Vajpayee's birthday. Rajnath, sources said is also scheduled to inaugurate a section of 'Kisan Path', circumventing the state capital next month.UP government has recently announced setting up of an umbrella university in Atal's name and had renamed Ekana stadium in Lucknow in the name of former PM while it proposes to call Bundelkhand expressway as 'Atal Path'.The BJP plans to invoke Vajpayee to arrest growing angst among upper castes, who are upset over the government bringing SC/ST Bill to restore the stringent provisions that had been diluted by Supreme Court.UP BJP vice-president JPS Rathore said that the celebrations would showcase achievements during Vajpayee regime and how they were taken forward by Modi government.BJP leadership is of the view that the upper castes drifted from BJP to Congress which was a key reason of the party's defeat in the Hindi heartland.Another senior BJP leader told TOI that plans are afoot to organize conventions deliberating on Vajpayee's legacy.As per reports, the Centre is also planning to come up with second phase of Atal Mission for Urban Transformation (AMRUT), a scheme aimed to provide a robust urban infrastructure.
