LUCKNOW: The efforts of authorities to streamline traffic and curb use of loudspeakers in compliance with high court orders in the state capital did not fetch the desired results last year since most traffic jam and noise complaints in the entire state were made from the city in 2018, reveals UP100 data.As many as 11,771 calls relating to traffic jams were made from Lucknow, followed by 9,684 from Ghaziabad, 7,790 from Prayagraj, 6,794 from GB Nagar, and 6,125 from Kanpur in 2018.Likewise, 2,282 calls were made to UP100 regarding noise in Lucknow, 1,386 from Ghaziabad, 1,298 from Kanpur, 1,254 in GB Nagar, and 1,247 from Prayagraj.Within the city, most traffic related complaints were made from Aminabad, while Mahanagar topped in complaints related to noise pollution.UP100 officials attributed the higher number of noise pollution complaints from the city to increase in use of DJs and loudspeakers at night.
