Ganga brims levels at an alltime high

“I have never seen so much water in Ganga and I feel this is after having a saint (Yogi Adityanath) as CM,” said Swami Hari Chaitanya Bharamchari of Tikar Mafi, who has been spreading awareness on Ganga conservation . The level at the venue’s exit point at Chatnag was recorded as 71.95 metre. Ganga’s level has been rising steadily since the past three days and is expected to rise further. The level of Ganga on January 14 during the 2013 Maha Kumbh at Phaphamau was 76 metre and at Chatnag was 71.6 metre.“Over 7,000 cusec of water is being released into Ganga because of which its level is on the higher side since the past fortnight. Seers said that they haven’t seen the river water so clear in the past several Maha Kumbh or Ardh Kumbh.As per the Central Water Commission (middle Ganga-Yamuna sub-division), the level of Ganga at Phaphamau, which is the entry point of the Mela ground, was recorded as 77 metre on Monday. The level at the venue’s exit point at Chatnag was recorded as 71.95 metre. The level of Ganga on January 14 during the 2013 Maha Kumbh at Phaphamau was 76 metre and at Chatnag was 71.6 metre.“Over 7,000 cusec of water is being released into Ganga because of which its level is on the higher side since the past fortnight. The quality of water has also vastly improved as many tanneries have been directed to shut down,” said Mela Adhikari Vijay Kiran Anand.Since January, the volume of water in Ganga has been on the higher side when compared to previous years.
