LUCKNOW: On his first visit to the capital after being appointed as BJP’s election in charge for the state, Union minister JP Nadda said on Wednesday that BJP has grown manifolds since 2014 and would further improve its performance in coming Lok Sabha elections.Nadda added that the alliance between once bitter rivals SP and BSP is an endorsement of BJP’s continuous growth. BJP plans to play up PM Narendra Modi’s popularity in the run up to Lok Sabha elections.“The BJP today is not the same as in 2014. Its strength has grown and will continue to grow. BJP members have grown from 3 crore to 16 crore since 2014,” he said.“SP-BSP alliance endorses Modi ji’s popularity and strength. Their agenda is to remove Modi ji. This agenda won’t benefit people. We will expose them,” Nadda added.BJP has more crucial card up its sleeves and will key play them to counter the opposition and to dispel the nefarious narrative it is wheeling out, he said.“ Abhi bahut se Aladin ke chirag aane baaki hain. (We have more surprises to reveal in the days to come),” he added.While Nadda did not reveal finer points of the poll strategy, sources said that the party plans to rake up the long-standing animosity between Yadavs and Jatavs, the core vote banks of SP and BSP, respectively, on ground level.The party will also highlight the welfare schemes initiated by the Modi government at centre. “The schemes initiated by the NDA government at the centre will be highlighted at grass root level. We will reach out to all sections of society, be it Dalits, OBCs or the upper castes, everyone who has been benefited from various government schemes,” Nadda said. Citing the Centre’s flagship Ujjawala scheme as a ‘game changer’, Nadda, who is Union health minister said that the even Lancet, one of the oldest and most renowned medical journals in the world, has endorsed ‘Ujjawala’ as a scheme that has brought remarkable change in the health of women, especially those in rural areas.
