Some of them had been living in Agra for more than three years.On November 22 last year, a Bangladeshi youth, who was living as a Krishna devotee at the ISKCON temple in Vrindavan, was arrested on charges of illegally entering and staying in India. AGRA: A total of 115 Bangladeshi nationals staying in Mathura illegally have been arrested here in the past one year, police said.In the latest incident, nine Bangladeshi immigrants, including four women, were arrested by Mathura police on Saturday.They all had fake Aadhaars and were booked for violation of the Foreigners Act, 1946 and sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of the Indian Penal Code.According to police, the arrested immigrants had crossed the Indo-Bangladesh border illegally in search of jobs. They decided to stay in Agra due to easy availability of food and employment.Talking to TOI, Mathura senior superintendent of police (SSP) Siddhartha Aniruddh Pankaj said the arrested immigrants revealed that they prefer to go to the cities where they have some sort of connection or where their acquaintances had settled in a similar manner.The SSP said some Bangladeshis had managed to procure Aadhaar, voter ID, PAN cards and Indian passports to validate their stay.“Once they are settled here, these immigrants learn to speak Hindi and work as rag-pickers or scrap dealers,” the SSP added.When queried as to how many had been deported so far, a senior official in the intelligence unit said that the deportation cases of all the arrested immigrants are pending in court.He added that once they receive the order, the illegal immigrants would be deported soon.Last Monday, eight Bangladeshi nationals were nabbed with fake documents.
