Lucknow ranks third with 72 swine flu cases

LUCKNOW: Lucknow has been ranked at the third spot in the state in terms of swine flu cases reported since January 1 this year.Of the 421 positive swine flu cases reported from 28 UP districts, 72 cases have been reported from Lucknow, with most of the patients belonging to the high-risk category group. In Lucknow, maximum swine flu cases have surfaced in Indiranagar and Gomtinagar. "ANMs have further been asked to conduct fever tracking around the homes of positive influenza cases in their designated work areas and to check for any flu patients in at least 100 homes in their areas. "We have also put up hoardings at 10 places in Lucknow and have printed 2 lakh pamphlets on awareness and precautions to be taken against the influenza. The pamphlets will be distributed in hospitals," Tripathi added.

But thankfully, no swine flu related death has been reported in the city so far.Meerut and Ghaziabad with 169 and 79 cases, respectively, are the two districts preceding Lucknow.Given the soaring numbers, a meeting of health officials was held in Lucknow on Monday where it decided to organise health camps in three areas of the city - Indiranagar, Aashiana and Krishna Lok Colony. In Lucknow, maximum swine flu cases have surfaced in Indiranagar and Gomtinagar."ANMs have further been asked to conduct fever tracking around the homes of positive influenza cases in their designated work areas and to check for any flu patients in at least 100 homes in their areas. They will gave to ensure that suspected patients of influenza visit the health camps for examination by the doctors on duty," said in-charge of vector-borne disease control unit, Dr KP Tripathi.Over the next two days, the health department will also be coming up with a short film on swine flu to spread awareness - starting from the time a swine flu patient is identified and till the completion of treatment."We have also put up hoardings at 10 places in Lucknow and have printed 2 lakh pamphlets on awareness and precautions to be taken against the influenza.
