161 Dial 100 policemen suspended for extortion

The government said the good meal also encourages children to stay back in schools and helps check drop out rate. The issue was raised by BSP's Mohammad Aslam Raini who sought reply from chief minister Yogi Adityanath on whether if his government was aware of the extortion and bribe taken by police personnel. LUCKNOW: The state government told the Assembly on Tuesday that 161 police personnel of Dial 100 were suspended on charges of extortion, while departmental action was initiated against 62 other cops in the past four months.The government also said that while 32 cops were transferred, another 38 were sent to lines.Also, fine was slapped on three police officials, the government said. Raini also enquired about the action taken by the state government against the erring cops.Meanwhile, the government also said that a well cooked and healthy meal served in schools was not only necessary for mental growth of kids but also helps in removing caste and religious barriers among children.The reply came in response to a joint query by SP's Manoj Paras and BSP's Sukhdeo Rajbhar who sought to know if mid-day meal in schools was proving to be a hindrance in making children self-reliant and also if the government was providing quality books in schools.
