Lucknow Get pollution certificate for your car online

LUCKNOW: The Regional Transport Office RTO ) will start issuing Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) online February 24 onwards.There are 140 centres in Lucknow, which have been authorised by the government to issue PUCCs. To get a PUCC, the smoke emitted by a petrol-driven vehicle should have less than 3% CO concentration.Vehicles running on diesel are checked for their density of smoke before being issued the certificate. The vehicle would clear the inspection if the density of smoke is less than 65 Hartridge Smoke Unit (HSU).Vehicle owners need to get a PUCC renewed every six months.The fee for securing a certificate ranges between Rs 20 and Rs 50 for two, three and four-wheelers powered by petrol/LPG/CNG and diesel-driven vehicles. These centres are likely to be linked with the transport department’s official website so that public could avail the service online.“There are still a few things which RTO needs to work out before the service is officially launched,” said a source.Vehicle owners will have to book an appointment with a centre to get their vehicle checked. If the vehicle clears the inspection, the centre would upload the PUCC online on the transport department’s website.A vehicle owner would be able to download and print the certificate using a password.It is mandatory for all vehicles, both private and commercial, to get a PUCC which certifies that a vehicle meets emission norms.Before a PUCC issued, vehicles running on petrol are checked for quantity the carbon monoxide (CO) they emit.
