Lucknow Metro full run likely from next month

LUCKNOW: The team of Commissioner Metro Rail Safety (CMRS), which started a three-day inspection of Lucknow Metro on Wednesday, is likely to give its verdict on Monday next week.If the team gives clearance, the commercial launch of Metro on north-south corridor from CCS airport to Munshipulia may start in March first week. On Thursday, the team will travel on train and check speed, safety features, jumps and jerks and test driving skills of the Metro pilots. Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) chairman and secretary, Union ministry of housing and urban affairs, Durga Shankar Mishra also reviewed the preparations for the commercial run of north-south corridor and will submit report to central government.He congratulated officers and engineers for completing the project ahead of deadline and appreciated the artwork at underground stations. LMRC managing director Kumar Keshav and other senior officers were also present during the inspection.LMRC officials are hopeful about getting CMRS nod next week, following which they will write to state government that the commercial run can start.The government will then decide the launch date. However, if it detects any flaws or suggests improvements, the launch will have to wait till the issues are resolved.The six-member team checked safety features in the underground section, including tracks and stations from Bapu Bhawan to Hazratganj and spent maximum time at the Sachivalaya station.
