HC for probe against suspended doc in 90 days

LUCKNOW: In a recent order, the Allahabad high court has asked UP government to expedite the departmental inquiry against suspended BRD medical college paediatrician, Dr Kafeel Khan, and conclude it, preferably within three months. ""The government says that encephalitis menace has been controlled, but an RTI query revealed 161 acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) deaths at BRD medical college," he claimed. "I was present on all the dates fixed by the inquiry committee, except one, when I was in jail. Then too, I had sent a letter seeking permission to be present for the probe. I had appeared on May 21, 2018 and on August 27, 2018.

LUCKNOW: In a recent order, the Allahabad high court has asked UP government to expedite the departmental inquiry against suspended BRD medical college paediatrician, Dr Kafeel Khan, and conclude it, preferably within three months. The court passed the order on March 7 on a writ petition by Khan, challenging his suspension order on August 22, 2017.The suspended paediatrician, however, held a press meet in Lucknow on Tuesday and said that he would file a review petition, since the government had misled the court by telling it that he did did been appear for inquiry."I was present on all the dates fixed by the inquiry committee, except one, when I was in jail. Then too, I had sent a letter seeking permission to be present for the probe. I had appeared on May 21, 2018 and on August 27, 2018. I have received a letter on March 6, 2019, asking me to appear on March 18," said Khan.Claiming that he was made a scapegoat in BRD medical college oxygen tragedy, Khan said, "The doctors and accountants were not responsible for the death of over 60 patients, instead the officials who did not respond to letters of oxygen supply shortage are guilty.""The government says that encephalitis menace has been controlled, but an RTI query revealed 161 acute encephalitis syndrome (AES) deaths at BRD medical college," he claimed.
