LUCKNOW: Hooliganism and rowdyism in the garb of Holi revelry left bitter memories of the festival of colours for some residents who were subjected to face misbehaviour, eve-teasing or brawls.Sadar resident Prerna Sharma was disturbed by the hooliganism on streets, drunk boys zooming dangerously on bikes, caring little for the safety of others. “The moment you step out to celebrate you'll find majority of men under influence of alcohol indulging in awkward behaviour. Yesterday, a heavily drunk man was walking mindlessly on Lohia Path,” she said.“The revellers pay no heed to rules and indulge in hooliganism in the name of celebration. Youths riding bikes with modified silencers that produce high decibel noise. I was driving towards Hazratganj , but these bikers were trying to overtake my car and drive in front of my vehicle,” said Deepali Singh.“People get so carried away that they have no idea of the problems they create,” said Keshav Kumar.“The festival is losing its charm because of few antisocial elements. A couple of bikers were yelling and passing lewd comments. Later, one met with an accident on Aashiana crossing,” said Aniket Krishna. Most girls complained that eve-teasing was one major problem as mischief mongers take undue advantage.“We were walking in Hazratganj when four men started throwing balloons at us,” said Amrita Saxena.(With inputs from Shruti Nanda and Rahul Tripathi
