LUCKNOW: A Rs 32.3 crore budget deficit coupled with no new sources of revenue generation is likely to force Lucknow University ( LU ) to scale down its plans for expansion of academic and administrative facilities in the next academic session.LU tabled its 2019-20 annual budget before the Finance Committee on Thursday.With the report indicating a budget deficit of Rs 32.3 crore and no new sources of revenue, authorities said that LU would have to cut down on development activities to save costs.As per the tabled budget, LU generated Rs 167.7 crore as revenue from fees paid by students of various regular and self-finance course and other grants.Its expenditure ran to the tune of Rs 199.6 crore; of which Rs 143.8 crore was spent on salaries, Rs 8 crore on electricity, Rs 2 crore on maintenance and, the remainder on conducting examinations and other miscellaneous expenses.“As we have no means to increase revenues, the only way to meet this financial crisis is by cutting costs.
