3 weeks later Kukrail flyover finally opens

Permanent construction will be done after elections, said PWD officials.The flyover has reduced travel time between Khurramnagar and Gomtinagar from 45 minutes to 15 minutes. However, now it has made temporary roundabouts and opened the road for the public. CRRI had directed PWD to construct roundabouts at the two places to check jam and accidents.But PWD had said that permanent roundabouts could not be built immediately owing to the enforcement of the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections. LUCKNOW: The 6.5km six-lane Kukrail flyover that connects Khurramnagar with Gomtinagar finally became operational on Wednesday, three weeks after it was inaugurated by Union home minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh TOI had then highlighted how the flyover was inaugurated in a haste.Despite the inauguration, the flyover was not opened after an inspection by Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) found fault in road engineering at two spots — Khurramnagar from where the flyover starts and Gomti barrage where it ends.
