Lucknow: 2 bodies recovered from Indira Canal

LUCKNOW: Panic gripped Chinhat on Saturday after two dead bodies were recovered from the area.Some commuters spotted the body of a man floating in the Indira Canal and informed the police, who fished out the body. "Shiv Kumar was mentally challenged and was missing for the last 4-5 days. He said the body bore no injury marks and it seemed that the victim died of drowning.The another body which was recovered from the Indira Canal was also identified during the investigation. The police recovered a diary, in which cell number of one of Pawan's relatives was written.

LUCKNOW: Panic gripped Chinhat on Saturday after two dead bodies were recovered from the area.Some commuters spotted the body of a man floating in the Indira Canal and informed the police, who fished out the body. While police was trying to ascertain the identity of the man, some villagers reached the scene and informed about the presence of another body in the canal.During investigation, a family reached the scene and identified the first body to be of one Shiv Kumar (25) of Kursi police station area of Barabanki. "Shiv Kumar was mentally challenged and was missing for the last 4-5 days. His family reached Chinhat Kotwali to seek detail of the recovery of unidentified bodies from the canal. When they were shown the body, they identified him," police spokesperson A K Dwivedi said. He said the body bore no injury marks and it seemed that the victim died of drowning.The another body which was recovered from the Indira Canal was also identified during the investigation. "The deceased was identified as Pawan Kumar Mishra (32) of Kothi police station area of Barabanki. The police recovered a diary, in which cell number of one of Pawan's relatives was written. The police contacted the number and the family was summoned at the Kotwali. They later identified the body," he said.Circle officer, Gomtinagar, Avnishwar Chandra Srivastava said that if autopsy report reveal any foul play, a case will be registered and probed accordingly.
